This week, on Our Goodwill Stories, Mike and Emily discuss Goodwill’s CVS Retail Simulation Lab. They talk about the great relationship between Goodwill and CVS, and how this training space will create a prepared pipeline of Customer Service Representatives for the pharmaceutical retailer and the many opportunities for growth within the company. The training lab itself has many opportunities for growth, as Goodwill plans to include pharmacy technician, store manager, and other retail training.

Each week, tune in right here in the News & Events page on Goodwill’s website to hear stories and interviews from inside Goodwill’s walls and throughout the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys. CVS Training Lab Opens at Goodwill’s Headquarters

Goodwill’s CVS Health Retail Training Program to include customer service, merchandising, and register skill building

Goodwill unveiled its new CVS Mock Store and Training Lab on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at 1pm at its Belmont Avenue headquarters

. The Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony began in Goodwill’s cafeteria with several speakers and emceed by Denis Robinson, Sr., Director of Mission Services at Goodwill. Susan Pugh from Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities spoke on the importance of inclusivity in the workplace, John White from CVS Health shared successes of similar collaborations between Goodwill and CVS in other regions, and Mike Hall from Goodwill Industries International connected the retail training program to the importance of digital skills training in today’s evolving workplace. Mark Goloja, Goodwill’s new CEO, thanked the Missions Services Department for their work toward implementing the CVS Retail Training Program for the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys.

The event’s guest of honor was Tiffany Oliver, a Sorter in Goodwill’s plant and a successful graduate of the CVS Retail Training Program. She was presented with a certificate of achievement and a glass paperweight by Emily McHenry, Goodwill’s Community Engagement and Training Specialist, instructed Tiffany through the training.

“We are excited to be a conduit of opportunity for the Valley and stand ready to partner with community agencies to advance this initiative and its participants,” said Robinson. “This unique training program is designed to prepare individuals with needed skills to succeed in careers, not just jobs.”

After McHenry cut the ribbon, the over sixty guests in attendance were led on tours of the training lab and the processing plant by Goodwill employees.

Goodwill plans to train several hundred people in this program and expects to expand the curriculum to include Pharmacy Tech and Store Manager Leadership training within a year.
