At Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries, we believe:
- In the value of people and the power of work.
- That solutions to barriers faced by under-resourced populations lie within the community.
- By partnering across sectors, we can empower families toward greater economic independence and create healthier, more stable environments.
- A holistic approach leads to long-term gains, not just financial stability but also improved health, education, and quality of life for future generations.
We also believe:
Lasting change takes more than quick fixes — it takes looking at the whole system. Communities that have been left out or under-resourced already have the strength and potential to thrive, but they face deep, long-standing barriers. To help communities truly grow and flourish, we can’t just cut the weeds on the surface; we have to dig down, tend the soil, and pull up the roots.
Our CNA report, which was completed in partnership with the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber, identified several barriers to workforce development in our community, including access to transportation, affordable child care and behavioral health services. As we continue to work alongside the community to develop solutions to these issues, we will continue to update this page with workforce development resources for businesses and organizations.
